Imagine an extra level of security when you’re on patrol, or being able to identify a hot spot before entering a burning building. That’s the promise behind a patent obtained by Amazon last week.
Drones are perhaps most commonly used these days for aerial videos and photographs. Amazon now wants to increase the utility of that feature by creating a pocket-sized drone that follows voice commands. The patent is for “miniaturized unmanned aerial vehicles” that can follow a “voice command from a user” and “provide enhanced support for police during routine traffic stops.
Amazon’s design is meant for police, firefighters, rescue workers. The cost may prove prohibitive for other organizations.
