Half of the planet’s population lives in countries where there are more private security workers than police officers, according to a recently released study.
India leads the way with 7 million private security workers compared to just 1.4 million police officers. China is a close second with 5 million guards compared to 2.7 million cops.
The evolving threat landscape has made private security a big business, not just in the United States but around the globe. The industry is worth approximately $180 billion, and that number is expected to grow to $240 billion by 2020. There are an estimated 20 million private security workers worldwide; the U.S. Is home to 1.1 million private guards.
