If you’re concerned about your company’s carbon footprint, take heart: two companies have collaborated to produce what they say is the first ever dye derived from cotton plant-residues.
Known as EarthColors, the patented technology creates dyes in warm, ternary shades from nature. EarthColors addresses two key concerns of the textile industry: sustainability and traceability. Most dyes are synthetic and oil-based; EarthColors is a biosynthetic alternative that utilizes natural waste from the agricultural or herbal industry.
This latest innovation comes through a partnership between chemicals company Archroma, and industry group Cotton Incorporated.
