China’s Bodyguards are Struggling to Find Enough Rich People to Protect
Ever wonder what private security is like in other countries?
Well, in China, it’s big business. The country has the world’s highest number of billionaires (who knew?), most of whom employ a private security detail. Guards can earn up to $3,000 a month – four times China’s average wage. Training ranges from the mundane to the unorthodox – new recruits are often pounded until bloodied. Many train with no intention of pursing a career in private security – some just seek to learn new skills or toughen up.
Perhaps that’s for the best. Seems China’s billionaires are cutting back on personnel, citing a slowing economy, corruption and a growing distaste for ostentatious behavior.
