How about Wash and Wear and Washable? A Performance Fabric and Smart Fabric? You’ve heard the terms, but do you know what they mean?

With all the options available to today’s uniform customer, it can be difficult to keep the terminology straight.

That’s where we come in. We’ll tackle a few terms each week to clear up the confusion. We’ll give you just what you need to know to make informed, smart buying decisions. And we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest technology that will affect the next generation of uniform garments.

Let’s start with the basics. Just about every garment nowadays touts itself as a performance fabric. But just what do these garments “perform?”

Turns out they perform quite a bit, offering the user protection from UV rays, moisture, and harmful micro-organisms. They can also regulate body temperature, reduce odor, and provide ease of movement, making the wearer more comfortable. Performance fabrics look good too – many resist wrinkles.

Does each performance garment contain all of the above? No, but your uniform supplier can help you select the garments that are right for your needs.
